Re-release of Prof. P. S. Velayudhan’s autobiography highlights Kerala’s social history
The autobiography of the late historian Prof. P. S. Velayudhan, "Ente Jeevitha Pathangal" ( 'എൻ്റെ ജീവിത പഥങ്ങൾ"), has been re-released with new additions, offering fresh insights into Kerala’s social, political, and educational history. The book was relaunched on July 27 at a ceremony held at S. N. V Sadanam, Ernakulam South, attended by scholars, family members, and admirers of Velayudhan’s work.
The reissue comes amid growing interest in Kerala’s regional histories and cultural identity. By incorporating new research and visuals, the book serves as both a memoir and a historical resource, making Velayudhan’s contributions accessible to a wider audience. Scholars and history enthusiasts have welcomed the re-release, seeing it as an opportunity to revisit Kerala’s past through the lens of one of its most dedicated chroniclers.
The updated version, published by Prabodha Publications, Kochi, includes a new foreword by Prof. M.K. Sanu, rare photographs, and additional archival material. Sri. P.P. Rajan unveiled the book, while Prof. Velayudhan’s son, Sri. P. V. Santhosh Kumar, received the first copy. The event was chaired by Dr. Elsamma Joseph Arackal, with speeches from historians and academics, including M.R. Geetha, Deepu P. K., Dr. Usha Kiran, and Dr. Shantha Devi.
Prof. P. S. Velayudhan was a key figure in documenting Kerala’s history, particularly its social reform movements and educational developments. His autobiography provides a personal account of his life as well as reflections on Kerala’s intellectual and political growth. The revised edition, edited by Dr. Vinodkumar Kallolickal, M.R. Geetha, and Deepu P.K., ensures his work remains relevant for new generations of readers.

Probodha Publications, Kochi, celebrated the grand release of Sri. Hashim Katooppatath’s literary work, "Kala, Pranayam, Viplavam, Maharajas," at Hira Centre, Aluva. The event was presided over by the Secretary of Probodha Trust, Sri. Naveen Kumar D D. Sri. Nishad Koya released the book by presenting the first copy to renowned actor Kalabhavan Naushad.
The occasion was graced by distinguished guests, including Sri. Anson Kurumbhathuruth and Sri. Yaser Ahammad. Smt. Dhanya Manoj formally introduced the book, followed by an engaging interaction with the author, Sri. Hashim Katooppatath. Sri. "Why Gandhi" presented to Shri Damodar Mouzo Janapith Award winner
Shri Naveenkumar D.D. , Secretary of the Probodha Trust, Kochi presented a copy of the book "Why Gandhi", a publication of the trust to Shri Damodar Mouzo at Goa. Mouzo is a well-known writer and winner of Janapith Award(2022) and Sahitya Akademi Award (1983). The book "Why Gandhi " is a collection of articles written by eminent personalities including Prof.K.Satchidandan and others.It was edited by Dr.Siby K Joseph Dr G. Geethika and Dayal Paleri.The foreword was written by Padma Shri Prof.Ramjee Singh an authority on Gandhian Studies and a veteran academics.

Probodha Trust, Kochi, organized a heartfelt gathering on 5th July 2025 (online meeting) to pay tribute to the late Dalit activist and critical thinker K.M. Salim Kumar. The event commenced with a welcome note delivered by the Secretary of Prabhodha Trust, Sri Naveen Kumar, who highlighted the close association between Salim Kumar and the Trust over the past four years. He emphasized that Salim Kumar was a true humanist who consistently rejected sectarian divisions through his speeches and writings.
Prof. Rathi Menon, a retired professor of Malayalam, shared her personal and deeply interactive relationship with Salim Kumar during their college days at Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam. Speaking in a sentimental and thought-provoking manner, she also recalled her connections with his family members.
Senior journalist Sri. N. Madhavan Kutty remarked that Salim Kumar’s demise was a significant loss to the intellectual landscape of modern Kerala. He described him as a man of a new kind—one who never viewed people from rival groups or opposing philosophies with suspicion. Firm in his principles, Salim Kumar honestly bridged the philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi and B.R. Ambedkar, leaving behind a legacy of inclusivity and intellectual rigour.
Other speakers, including Dr. Usha Kiran, Sri. M.K. Shashidharan, and Sri. P.N. Surendran, also paid heartfelt tributes to the late activist. The session was concluded by moderator N. Madhavan Kutty, who reiterated the profound impact of Salim Kumar’s work.
Probodha Trust announced that it would organize more programs in the coming days to honour and cherish the memory of K.M. Salim Kumar. The event was coordinated by Prof. Vinod Kumar Kallolickal, ensuring a meaningful and reflective tribute.
