M. K. Sanu (27 October 1928 – 2 August 2025)
Homage and Respect to Prof. M.K. Sanu
Probhodha Trust, Kochi, pays heartfelt homage to the legendary writer, literary critic, and scholar Prof. M.K. Sanu, whose profound wisdom and guidance have shaped our journey. Since our inception, we have been privileged to share a close association with him, drawing inspiration from his intellectual legacy. He inaugurated Probhodha Bhavan in MG Road, near Maharaja's College Metro Station. Additionally, he guided the Swami Ananthatheerthan Samskarika Samithi, demonstrating his enduring commitment. Swami Ananthatheerthan Samskarika Samithi is functioning at Prabhodha Bhavan.
Our tribute to Prof. M K Sanu includes publishing a biography “M.K. Sanu: Mozhiyum Maunavum” (“എം.കെ.സാനു: മൊഴിയും മൗനവും“), authored by Adv. M.K. Sasindran. Notably, when we instituted the A.D. Harisharma Memorial Award to honour outstanding intellectual contributions, the selection committee unanimously chose Prof. M K Sanu as its first recipient - a fitting recognition of his extraordinary legacy. The award was presented by Sri.Tushar Gandhi at a special ceremony held at Prof. Sanu's residence, ‘Sandhya’. We also celebrated his 95th birthday in a memorable event at his residence where students from St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam and Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, gathered to sing Gandhiji's favorite bhajan, “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram…”.
Prof. M K Sanu's guidance was instrumental in our centenary commemoration of Vaikom Satyagraha, featuring lecture series across colleges and culminating in a historic Yathra to Paliyam, Guruvayur and Sabari Ashram that he personally flagged off. His scholarly direction also led to the publication of a book Tapaswini Amma. Prof. M.K. Sanu remains our guiding light, his legacy continuing to inspire Probhodha Trust and the intellectual community at large. We offer our deepest respects to Prof. M. K. Sanu
